Hon. Robert Torrens O'Neill (10 January 1845 – 25 July 1910), was an Irish Conservative, and later Irish Unionist politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1885 to 1910. O'Neill was the third son of William O'Neill, 1st Baron O'Neill, and his first wife, Henrietta Torrens, daughter of Hon. Robert Torrens, a Judge of the Irish Court of Common Pleas. O'Neill was educated at Harrow School and at Brasenose College, Oxford and served as a Major in the 4th Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was also a Justice of the Peace for County Antrim, and Deputy Lieutenant for County Londonderry, and was High Sheriff of County Londonderry in 1871.〔(Debretts House of Commons and the Judicial Bench 1886 )〕 O'Neill stood for parliament unsuccessfully at Antrim in 1885 and was elected as Member of Parliament for Antrim Mid later in the year in the 1885 general election. He held this seat until his death in 1910, and was succeeded as MP by his nephew Arthur O'Neill. O'Neill never married and died at the age of 65. ==References==
